You don’t have to be an opera devotee in order to be instantly drawn in by the exceptional appearance of the soprano Jelena Banković. Her great talent lies not only in her crystal voice, but also in her supreme behavior on stage (and we also must not forget her perfect diction regardless of the language she is singing in). Whether she interprets Sandrina in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera or ‘swings her moving soprano to the hovering heights’ in modern operetta Die Stumme Serenade her singing and acting are simply riveting.

Another curiosity related to Jelena that is very rare for opera singers is that she also completed her Piano studies at the University of Music Arts in Belgrade! However, she pursued her singing career by going to Master studies in the Art of Opera Singing at the University of Arts in Berlin. Jelena is a holder of several prestigious awards, she collaborated with numerous renowed conductors and released two world premiere CDs with arias by Luigi Boccherini and Gaetano Brunetti for Soprano and Orchestra. Starting from August 2017 she is the new soloist and a permanent member of Staatstheater Braunschweig (see her full biography here).

She is an artist that will grab your attention from the very start until the end, enchanting you with her performance. That is even more obvious when she performs a recital and she alone, accompanied with a piano, carries the audience to the true operatic atmosphere by interpreting the caracter with all its dramatic traits. Such as, for example, Donizetti’s Norina!
