At that moment, from their earliest age, Bach enters their lives so that he could stay there for good.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-p1\"><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">Although they didn\u2019t learn the piano in music school, the two teenagers from Liverpool played a bit of Bach\u2019s\u00a0<i>Bouree in e minor\u00a0<\/i>at the end of the 50\u2019s,<i>\u00a0<\/i>wanting to show off a bit with their knowledge of classical music. A few years later \u2013 when there will be no need for trying to impress because their very appearance (along with with the rest two members) will lead to the complete exaltation of the audience, unseen in the history of rock \u2013 the song <i>Blackbird<\/i>\u00a0will be created. It was written by Paul McCartney based on a few first chords which he had practiced with Harrison at the aforementioned young age, and the song was released on the\u00a0\u00a0<i>White album<\/i>. All that time, Bach was present somewhere subconsciously. It was just necessary to get through to him, to <span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span>grow up\u2019\u2019 enough so the need for him would return.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Johann Sebastian Bach - Bouree In E Minor\" width=\"697\" height=\"523\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/APNI2CC0k6A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-p2\"><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s2\">With classical musicians it\u2019s different, there are some which have the basic need to play Bach every day, because that way they become aware <span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><\/span><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\"><i>of the wonder of life, with a feeling of the incredible marvel of being a human being<\/i>\u2019\u2019, like Pablo Casals once said. The famous cellist is an example of that \u2013\u00a0<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><i>For the past 80 years I have started each day in the same manner\u00a0<\/i>(&#8230;)<i>\u00a0I go to the piano, and I play two preludes and fugues of Bach. I cannot imagine doing otherwise. It is a sort of benediction on the house<\/i>.<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s5\">\u2019\u2019<\/span> (BBC has the radio program called\u00a0<i>Bach before breakfast<\/i>, where they broadcast some of Bach\u2019s music every day before\u00a0<span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1744792875\"><span class=\"aQJ\">7 p.m.<\/span><\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-p1\"><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">One of the things that connect Bach and the Beatles is exactly that unexplained secret ingredient thanks to which their music will still be performed, most certainly, for the next 300 years in various interpretations and genres. There is no musician out there without at least some Bach\u2019s influence \u2013 from classical composers, through jazz musicians to rock and metal performers. As for the same (<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span>non-classical\u2019\u2019) group of musicians, there is almost no one that didn\u2019t pass through <span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span>Lennon\/McCartney<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\">\u201d<\/span> school as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-871\" src=\"http:\/\/classicallradio.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Beatles-final-300x142.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/classicallradio.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Beatles-final-300x142.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/classicallradio.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Beatles-final-768x363.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/classicallradio.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Beatles-final-1024x484.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/classicallradio.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Beatles-final-1170x550.jpeg 1170w, https:\/\/classicallradio.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Beatles-final.jpeg 1456w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-p1\"><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">Is there something in common for the music of the 18<\/span><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">\u00a0Century, that came from a man who felt deeply connected to God and composed in His glory, and the British rock\u2019n\u2019roll lads who were in their own words <span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><em>more popular than Jesus<\/em>\u2019\u2019 in their time and not very close to Christianity, to put it more subtly than Lennon. The answer to this question can be found in Sir John Eliot Gardiner\u2019s view of Bach\u2019s greatness: <span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><\/span><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\">B<em>ach\u2019s music was made through faith, but it transcends faith. He humanizes the Lutheran theology of his time and makes it approachable. He makes it so it speaks to people of all beliefs, and of none. This earthly element to Bach\u2019s epic spirituality is a wonderful paradox. There is so much wit. It\u2019s\u00a0real.<\/em>\u201d\u00a0The similar opinion had the unsurpassed Glenn Gould saying that it is <em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s5\"><i>all-encompassing<\/i>\u2019\u2019 and <span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><i>valuable beyond all of its skill and brilliance for something more meaningful than that \u2013 its humanity<\/i>.\u2019\u2019<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-p1\"><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">At the beginning of the 21<\/span><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s3\"><sup>st<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\"> Century, it seems like humanity is just what the music and life are generally lacking, and when we look back at the 60\u2019s and the songs of the Beatles we find it right in front of us. It\u2019s not just because of the sentimentality for old times, but because the familiar voices of this charming four still have the healing effect on many of us around the globe. Although it gives us another kind of piece from Bach, one thing is common \u2013 when you listen to both of them you have a feeling that you are home and that everything is going to be O.K. <em>Blackbird<\/em> covered with Bach\u2019s silhouette is the perfect example for it. Even though it\u2019s less popular than the songs like <i>Yesterday, Hey, Jude, Let it be, Here comes the Sun, A day in life\u2026 <\/i><i>\u00a0it\u00a0<\/i>got the ticket to eternity thanks to the<i>\u00a0&#8216;<\/i>&#8216;baroque&#8220; qualities\u00a0<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s5\"><i>\u2013<\/i><\/span> the simple melody instantly <span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span>goes into your ear<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s5\">\u2019\u2019<\/span> and can be repeated indefinitely and constantly rediscovered. Without ever boring us,\u00a0<em>Blackbird<\/em> sounds equally good played by Paul, just on a guitar or an <em>a cappella<\/em> version. Thanks to its powerful message and magical serene melody, we could easily imagine <em>Blackbird<\/em> echoing between the church walls, rising and disappearing in the direction of the painted ceiling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Beatles - Blackbird (Rehearsal Take)\" width=\"697\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/videoseries?list=PL357YnFr2DIq-786Z6EMPM0YB6d3Wjwn1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-p1\"><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">There is no simple answer why Johann Sebastian Bach is considered to be the greatest composer of all time. The musicians that tried to give some of the possible answers always leave the space for the three dots that cannot be completely determined, adding in case of Gardiner that\u00a0<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s4\"><em>\u201c<\/em><\/span><\/span><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s5\"><i>If we could define what it is that moved or uplifted us in Bach then we&#8217;d have killed it off.<span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">\u2019\u2019<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-p2\"><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">One thing is certain \u2013 Bach will move you, maybe even bring you to tears simply wit his pure music and nothing else. I alone was caught in tears when, on one occasion, I entered Hamburg\u2019s cathedral right at the time of the rehearsal of <i>St. Matthew Passion\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0<\/i>when the soloist was singing\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=aEHIgjoueeg\"><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s2\"><i>Erbarme dich, meine Gott<\/i><\/span><\/a><span class=\"m_-901643056954979621gmail-s1\">\u00a0in a voice of an angel. I came to Hamburg by the way, with the idea of passing through the same paths Beatles did before they became \u2018\u2019The Beatles\u2019\u2019, and I actually met my piano teacher from childhood again.
