Charms of the Piano

05. 07. 2018.

Peter Wood was an English keyboardist who, back in the 70’s, played with the band The Sutherland Brothers. Al Stewart, captured by the melody he heard him play about 15 times, said to him: ‘You know, there’s something about that. It sounds kind of haunting and nice. Can I write some lyrics to it?” And Wood answered: “Sure, go ahead and write some lyrics.’’

The title was taken from a book on Vietnamese astrology, specifically the chapter called ‘The Year of the Cat’. After many bad attempts, the lyrics were finally there – the inspiration was the Bogart & Bergman on screen relationship in the cult movie Casablanca.

Following this great piano intro, we made a playlist of 16 more rock songs that simply wouldn’t be so great without his majesty – the piano!
